Showcase Local Vendors, Host Family Yard Sale Open to Community
EDWARDSVILLE, ILL., JULY 12, 2010 . . . Back by popular demand, The Goddard School in Edwardsville will host its second annual Children’s Expo on July 17 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the school, located at 801 South Arbor Vitae at the Park at Plum Creek.
Modeled after a community block party, the Children’s Expo will expose families to local vendors and offer activities such as crafts, bounce house, and live performances. Families of The Goddard School in Edwardsville will also have tables of their “nearly new” items as part of the family yard sale, which will offer items suitable for children age 0-6 and other household treasures.
Activities for the day will include:
· Live Jazz Band performance by Edwardsville High School students
· Dalmatian Combo Bounce House
· Young Chefs Academy
· Several children’s local vendors to include Kona Ice, Kettle Corn
· Blood Drive
· Visit by the Edwardsville Police Department for children’s ID’s
· Storytelling by a Goddard teacher
· Children’s games, activities and crafts
· Goddard “newly new” sale (garage sale items)
· The Balloon Man
· Chair Massages
· Free food and fun for everyone!
· Other surprises for the children!
Additionally, a drawing will be held for a family of up to 4 members to attend The Goddard School Ultimate Block Party in Central Park, New York the first weekend in October! Everyone can qualify for this trip by providing a small donation of $5 minimum to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois.
“This year’s Children’s Expo offers something for everyone. We make every effort to showcase local businesses and provide a festive environment so families can share a few fun-filled hours together. The event is open to the public so families from throughout the area are encouraged to attend,” said Barbara A. Burrows, owner of The Goddard School in Edwardsville.
