GIVE THANKS BY GIVING BLOOD:
BLOOD DRIVE TO BE HELD AT TheBANK OF EDWARDSVILLE
EDWARDSVILLE, ILL., Nov. 9, 2010 . . . Each year, only about three percent of eligible Americans donate blood, limiting the supply for those in need. This Thanksgiving, give thanks to fellow Americans by giving blood. Each blood donation has the potential to save up to three lives.
An upcoming Blood Drive will be held at TheBANK of Edwardsville’s Main Banking Center at 330 West Vandalia in Edwardsville on Nov. 17, 2010 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. To make an appointment, please visit www.redcrossblood.org (Enter Sponsor Code: TheBANK) or call Nikki Turner at (618) 659-6354.
All blood types are needed to ensure the American Red Cross maintains an adequate blood supply. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Donors must be in general good health, weigh at least 110 pounds and be at least 17 years old (16 in Illinois with completed Parental Consent Form). New height and weight restrictions apply to donors younger than 19. Visit bloodisneeded.org to learn more.
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies nearly half of the nation's blood; teaches lifesaving skills; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
